A graduate student has created the first man-made biological leaf. It absorbs water and carbon dioxide to produce oxygen just like a plant. He did this by suspending chloroplasts in a mixture made out of silk protein. He believed it can be used for many things but the most striking one is the thought that it could be used for long distance space travel. Plants do not grow in space, but this synthetic material can be used to produce oxygen in a hostile environment. (Video)

The Waiting Room
Life currently is like being stuck in a waiting room to see a new doctor and what ever they have to say (good or bad) will dramatically change your life forever and you won’t look at the world the same. It’s a waiting room that you found a couple of buddies to chat with and across the room there are some people that seem odd and to them we seem just as odd but that doesn’t matter because none of us have power here and we all sit and wait together but separate for the same thing but none of us know why yet. During our wait people come and go and sometimes you have to be alone and it hurts but someone else comes along and fills their seat or you find that seat was better left empty because now you have some nice elbow room and a chiar to put yout stuff down but either way there are some shitty magazines or whatever else to keep up on the gossip and your mind off the lonlyness. We’re all forced to reflect on our selfs as we sit and fill out these papers for what feels like hours and we hand it in to someone who tells us where we went wrong or how we need more and they teach us what they think is the “right way” we sit and listen because it’s the “right way” we keep quite and do not question the “right way” because it is just the “right way” we sit and wait feeling stuck and bored until we are called to move on. But don’t get me wrong it could be worse. This is a nice waiting room they have one of those water things and some snacks and a TV to keep out the awkward silence, they even have some fish and perfect air conditioning. They put some art on the walls I guess to male it more like home bit the art is not home to me. The art is tacky and I want more.
